Parish Life

Our parish life together

The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection parish life is vibrant and faithful. We join together outside of worship throughout the year with events to celebrate our faith, our heritage, our culture and our community. All are welcome!

Shrove Sunday

We gather to celebrate the time before Lent with our annual tradition of Shrove Tuesday, but celebrated on Sunday.  We eat pancakes, sausage and pastries in order to eat the last of the "fat" before the season of Lent and fasting begins.  Pancake races, Dixieland band, costumes, and general frivolity occurs before we "put away the alleluias" and burn our palms for Ash Wednesday.

*Held on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday*

Lent Suppers

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest at LCR is a fun-filled evening in September! Join us for the food, the band, the singing, and the beer. Held in our Fellowship Hall, this is a party not to be missed! Watch announcements for RSVP details starting in August.

*Held on the last Thursday in September*

Ascension Day

Come before worship for a hotdog dinner with all the fixings! If the weather cooperates, we’ll eat and worship outside.

Advent Dinners

We gather together on Wednesday evenings during Advent before worship to share a meal. Arrive anytime from 5:30pm onward for dinner in the Fellowship Hall, and then join worship at 7pm.

Slice of Lefse

Enjoy sensational lefse prepared by experts based on secret family recipes handed down from real Scandinavian lefse makers who can trace their lineage back to Lena! Come to enjoy some lefse and bring your best Ole and Lena joke to share with your table-mates!

*Held on the Sunday before Thanksgiving*

Buildings and Grounds

The Buildings and Grounds Committee is dedicated to maintaining and caring for the church’s physical property. Their mission is to ensure the building and grounds are kept in good condition, enabling a welcoming and functional environment. The committee meets on the 2nd Monday of the month to address current needs, like: boiler maintenance, parking lot resurfacing, lawn and snow care, and organizing spring cleaning efforts.

Odd Jobbers

The Odd Jobbers are a group of volunteers who meet to handle light custodial tasks and maintenance work around the church. Their responsibilities include fixing, repairing, mending, painting, and ensuring the building remains clean and in good working order. Along the way, they enjoy great conversations, coffee, and donuts. The group meets on Monday mornings at 9:00 a.m.

Visiting Ministry

The Visiting Ministry is a compassionate outreach program that connects with church members who are homebound, hospitalized, or in need of caring support. Volunteers offer companionship, prayer, and encouragement during their visits. Through this ministry, relationships within the congregation are strengthened, ensuring that every member feels valued and connected to the church community.

Celebrating our history

Founded in 1947, we’ve been worshiping, celebrating life events, and engaging in the community for decades. Together we’ve built a lively faith community with a strong Lutheran identity and deep commitment to our community. Take a look back at the foundational moments of our life together.
