Pastor Tim Bernard- Pastor
I really love being at Resurrection! At times it is hard to believe that this southern Minnesota 'farm boy' is now living and working in the 'city,' but that just goes to prove the old adage: "If you ever wonder if God has a sense of humor - just start making plans for your life!"
I attended Augsburg College for two years before transferring to Luther College, majoring in psychology and business management. A couple of years after college I found myself back in school, this time at Wartburg Theological Seminary. This is my third call having served Our Redeemer (Champion-Michigamme, MI) from 1995-1999, and Messiah (Marquette, MI) from 1999-2010, prior to accepting the call to serve Resurrection.
My wife, Laurel, is on-leave from call as an ordained pastor. Together we have four children - Natanael, Mikael, Jeremia, and Isak.
Gary Butler- Cantor
I have been an employed church musician for 31 years. After receiving my Bachelor of Music Degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA in 1983, I received a Master of Sacred Music Degree from Luther Seminary, St. Paul in 1993. I have served for churches in the United Church of Christ, Roman Catholic Church, United Methodist, and the ELCA in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New Jersey, and Minnesota. I also studied organ at the "Sessione Senese per la Musica e l'Arte" in Siena, Italy. When I am not at Resurrection, I am a music instructor and choral director for the Shakopee Public School District. I live in Burnsville with my wife; Ione, and our three children, Sophia, Kristina, and Jonathan
Rachel Wright- Parish Administrator
I have worked at Resurrection since the fall of 2011. I love my job and I love the community of people here at Resurrection. It feels more like a family than a church to me and I love the focus on multi-generational activities, music, and service to the community.
I graduated from St. Olaf College in 1995 with a BA in Psychology and Statistics. After a year of service with the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, I worked for 6 years in social services for the mentally ill. I then transitioned into a job as Director of Children & Family Ministries at Easter Lutheran Church in Eagan, MN. After 6 years of working full-time at Easter, I decided to stay home with my children when my second child was born. I am thrilled to be able to go to work part-time at Resurrection, and love the flexiblity that it affords to me and my family.
My husband, Adam Wright and I have been married since October, 2001. We live in Roseville with our three children, Alden, Greta and Will.
Janine Studier- Financial Administrator
Jeanne Fish- Director of Ministry with the Aging
Ministry with the Aging is my “encore” career and I am blessed to be invited into this service at Resurrection. The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection has been the church home of my family for three generations. I was baptized, confirmed, and married at Resurrection.
I received a Master of Arts degree in Ministry with the Aging from Luther Seminary in May, 2016. I received a Master of Arts degree in Liberal Studies with a focus in healthcare leadership from Hamline University in May, 1999. I am a certified facilitator with Honoring Choices Minnesota, an advance care planning program, and I have been a hospice volunteer for over 10 years, with an 11th hour care focus.
I live in Arden Hills with my husband Richard. We have two wonderful sons, two beautiful daughters-in-law, and three precious grandchildren: Justin, Sandy and Zachary.
Treble Choir Director- Kristina Butler
I grew up in the loving and supportive community of Resurrection. I sang in the Treble Choir under the direction of Bonnie Hanson, attended VBS every summer, baked pies for Lutheran Summer Music fundraising, and more! I am excited to be a member of Resurrection in a new way this year.
I graduated from St. Olaf last spring with a BA in Spanish and Music. At St. Olaf, I was a soprano in Manitou Singers and Chapel Choir, and I played flute in the St. Olaf Band. I have worked with children during the year in after-school volunteer programs, and during the summer as a nanny and camp counselor, most notably Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
My goal for Treble Choir is to mirror the excellence of the directors I've made music with, while providing a supportive and fun environment for the children of Resurrection to be confident singers!
When I'm not at Resurrection, I work for and AmeriCorps program called College Possible, where I am a mentor and college counselor for underprivileged high schoolers. I live in South Minneapolis with a good friend from college.
