Resurrection youth are involved in every aspect of the life of our congregation. They play with us, eat with us, pray with us, serve with us, and worship with us. Once they are old enough, they lead worship as acolytes, ushers, lectors, and musicians. Our youth lead as teachers for Sunday School and they help lead events for younger youth at church: late-overs, Wednesday night games, Vacation Bible School, and Easter morning activities.
Yearly events for our youth include late-overs, lock-ins, baking pies for Thanksgiving, serving at Feed My Starving Children and Simpson Shelter, Vacation Bible School, the Epiphany pageant, the Youth Recital and Arts Showcase, and serving at our Easter breakfast. Youth also have the opportunity to go to summer camp at Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Camp and many of our youth have gone to Lutheran Summer Music.
Night on the Street: Eight of our youth (grades 6 though 12) participated in this year's "Night on the Street" on April 17, sponsored by Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative. Held at Plymouth Congregational Church in Minneapolis, this annual event bring youth from all over the Twin Cities to experience one night of sleeping in a cardboard box. They learn about homelessness and advocacy, raise money for the important cause of fighting homelessness, and have fun in the process.
