We support twelve families from Emmet D Williams Elementary and two families through the Career and Life Transitions program who are experiencing food insecurity. Each week we pack and deliver bags of food to supplement weekend meals for these families. With support from an ELCA Domestic Hunger grant, and generous donations from our congregation we have been able to these families for the past several years.
We have also been partnering with The Good Acre Food Hub, which is a collection of small local farms who sell their shares of produce to the community. They have generously agreed to donate their extra produce to the families we support through Bountiful Backpacks. We also hope to include produce from our own community garden in the weekly deliveries.
We need your help in order to sustain this important community outreach. You can help by packing, or delivering, or packing produce during summer months. If you are unable to sign up online, please contact Rachel Wright.
